Statement of Faith
CLEA is founded upon the principles of the Word of God and espouses the historic Christian view of life as presented in the Bible. The Board of Directors and each school employee subscribe to the following Statement of Faith in writing:
Statement Of Faith
The Word Of God:
We believe that the Bible, containing the 66 books of the Old & New Testaments, is the complete and only revealed Word of God.
We believe that the Holy Spirit not only inspired the thoughts of the writers, but also formulated the very word structure into which the thoughts were cast with the result that the original documents are inerrant and infallible.
We believe that the Bible has been preserved by God through faithful transcription and translation and therefore is the Word of God (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Peter 3:15-16).
We believe the Bible, being the authoritative Word of God in all matters, is profitable for instructing, correcting, exhorting and training in righteousness and Truth (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The Godhead:
We believe in one Triune God – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe they are eternal in being, identical in nature, equal in power and glory having precisely the same attributes and perfections (Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14).
We believe the Godhead is the sovereign creator and sustainer of all that was, is, and ever will be (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3).
We believe that God is everywhere at once, all-powerful, and nothing is unknown to Him.
We believe that God is eternal, existing beyond the confines of time, that He is distinct from His creation while active and present among it, and that He hears and answers the prayers of those who are in Jesus Christ.
We believe that God saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who became fully man without ceasing to be fully God (John 1:1-3 & 1:14; Philippians 2:5-11).
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and lived a sinless life in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man through His substitutionary atonement on the cross. We believe that our redemption is made sure by His resurrection from the dead in the identical, though glorified, body in which He was crucified (John 3:19-21; Romans 3:22-23; 1 Peter 1:3-5).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is now in Heaven, exalted at the right hand of the Father where, as High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate for His people (Hebrews 9:24; 7:25; Romans 8:34).
Holy Spirit:
We believe in God, the Holy Spirit, who came from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (John 3:3-7, 16:8-14).
We believe that the Holy Spirit permanently indwells the believer at the point of salvation enabling and empowering them to grow in Christlikeness (John 14:15-17; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:22-23).
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Father’s seal of salvation securing eternal life and placing believers into the family of God, bestowing spiritual gifts for the edification and functioning of His Church for His glory (Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Corinthians 12:11).
We believe that the Holy Spirit guides those in Christ into all truth revealing the deep things of God to mankind (1 Corinthians 2:9-14) and interceding in the prayers of the saints (Romans 8:26).
Mankind:
We believe that mankind was created as a perfect, sinless being, male and female, in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-31).
We believe that mankind, represented by Adam, chose to rebel against God’s command causing sin to enter the world resulting in physical and spiritual death (Genesis 3:1-7).
We believe that mankind’s very nature was changed by sin (Genesis 5:3) though mankind continues to bear the image of God (1 Corinthians 11:7).
We believe that a sinful nature was imputed through Adam to all his descendents so that every person born of Adam naturally sins (Romans 5:12) and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
We believe that all of mankind is in need of the free gift of salvation because all have sinned and fallen short of God’s holy standard (Romans 3:10, 3:23; 6:23).
Salvation:
We believe that God so loved mankind (John 3:16) that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to take upon Himself God’s holy punishment for our sin as the substitutionary sacrifice (Romans 5:17-21) in order to redeem mankind from their sinful state.
We believe that salvation comes by the grace of God alone, through faith alone and in Christ alone, that salvation is not the product of human effort, but of personal faith in the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9).
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the regenerating agent in convicting and drawing mankind to a sincere confession of faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Roman 10:9; 1 Corinthians 12:2).
We believe that only, by way of salvation, one has the capacity to live a godly and righteous life (1 Thessalonians 4:7-8).
We believe in the eternal security of those who have received the free gift of salvation (John 10:27-30; Romans 8:38-39; Hebrews 6:1).
The Church:
We believe that the Church is the universal, spiritual organism of which Christ is the head, composed of all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:18-19; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 2:19-22).
We believe in the local church, whose membership consists of believers in Jesus Christ. These believers assemble regularly for worship, Bible study, and prayer, participation in the ordinances, fellowship and are called to take the good news to a lost world (Hebrew 10:24-25; Romans 12:4-21; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Peter 3:21; Matthew 28:19-20).
The End Times:
We believe in the physical, visible return of Jesus Christ to gather His elect and return judgment on those who have not accepted His free gift of salvation (John 14:3; Revelation 19:11-16).
We believe in the destruction of this present heaven and earth by fire (2 Peter 3:10) and the creation of a new heaven and earth (Revelation 21:1) where those who accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior will enjoy Him forever.
We believe that all who do not receive God’s payment for sin in the person of Jesus Christ will suffer the righteous penalty of conscious eternal separation from the living God in a literal place called “The Lake of Fire” (Revelation 20:10 & 15; Matthew 8:12).
